What's in the file
Three sheets. The formulas are set up, so you do not have to change anything, but you can.
- 1Pick the month and year
Dates and weekdays adjust themselves, the current month is set by default.
- 2Enter the hours
Every day as a number, for example 8 or 7.5. For vacation and sick days use a letter.
- 3Print or send
The sheets are set up for A4. Save as PDF and send it to payroll.

Questions about the template
Is the template really free?
Yes. Download it with no sign-up and no email, copy it and change it as you like.
Which programs does it work in?
The file is in Excel format (.xlsx). We tested it in Google Sheets: the month, weekends and totals work the same there. You can also open it in Numbers or LibreOffice.
What is the difference between the two sheets?
“Crew month” shows the whole crew's month with hours per day. “Employee month” is for when you also need to record when work started and ended, not just the hours.
Does it work for Germany?
In German construction, § 17 MiLoG requires the start, end and length of each working day: that is what the “Employee month” sheet is for. Which records your company needs exactly is best checked with a lawyer or tax adviser.
